A safe was discovered hidden inside a Miami mansion that once belonged to notorious Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. Construction workers found the safe in the building's foundation during demolition.
The mansion, now owned by a restaurateur and a TV journalist, is being removed to make way for a more modern building. It was confiscated by the U.S. government in 1987 and sold at auction. The current owners purchased it in 2014.

Letshego acquires 100% stake in FBN Microfinance Bank
Letshego Holdings Limited (“Letshego”), a financial inclusion focused group with consumer, micro lending and deposit-taking subsidiaries across Southern and East Africa, has announced its acquisition of 100% shares in FBN Microfinance Bank (FBN MFB) from its parent, FBN Holdings plc. FBN Holdings plc is the oldest banking group in Nigeria, having been established in 1894, and is listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

A 15-year-old asylum seeker has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a refugee centre worker was stabbed to death in Sweden. Alexandra Mezher (pictured above) was killed yesterday, January 25, while working at the refugee centre for unaccompanied minors in the town of Molndal, near Gothenburg. Sweden is a prime destination for refugees, and took in more than 160,000 asylum seekers in 2015..

The Federal Government has imposed a stamp duty of N50 on bank customers for money received into their accounts. This implies that every bank customer will henceforth pay N50 stamp duty for money received into their accounts through electronic transfer, cash and cheques.
This directive was contained in a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, "Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under the Stamp Duties Act”.

4 killed in bomb blast inside a mosque in Cameroon
At least 4 people were killed in a suicide bomb blast that happened inside a mosque in Ngue Tchewe, a village in Far North Region in Cameroon today January 18th. The suicide bomber believed to be a teenage boy, attacked the mosque while the Muslim faithfuls were saying their early morning prayer. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but it is believed that Boko Haram is responsible.
