A mobile policeman was on Tuesday evening killed when a tipper driver allegedly lost control of his lorry as a result of brake failure and crashed into a police checkpoint at New Tarzan Junction, along Enugu/Onitsha Expressway in Anambra State

According to the Facebook user who posted the photos, the children claim to hail from Kano and Katsina States. We are calling on the government of both states to immediately investigate because being on the streets makes these children easy targets of sexual molestation and other forms of abuse.

FG reduces fuel price by 50 kobo per litre

The federal government yesterday reduced the pump price of petrol from N87 to N86.50k per litre with effect from January 1st.

In a statement signed by the‎ executive secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Farouk Ahmed in Abuja, FG said that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) retail stations will sell at N86 per litre, while retail outlets owned by oil marketers will sell at N86.50k per litre.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed regret for referring to President Buhari as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile during one of his programmes on his radio station on August 1st this year. Woman escapes being killed by an Alfa for 'rituals' in Lagos

On Tuesday, residents of Big Daddy Street in the Atinplome, Bagadry area of Lagos State stormed an uncompleted building in the area, which they suspected to be a ritual killer’s den, after a lady ran out of the building crying for help.

Woman electrocuted in hotel room on her birthday

24 year old Funke Balogun, a National Diploma II student of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), was allegedly electrocuted in a hotel bathroom owned by her boyfriend Abolade Adetunji's mother at 30, Balogun Street, Oshodi in Lagos on Sunday December 27th.
According to a report by the Nation, Funke who is a mother of one, was in a relationship with Abolade who just passed from NYSC. According to Funmi, the younger sister of the deceased, Abolade came to pick her sister at their residenceon Saturday around 11pm.

Kris Jenner's only son, Rob Kardashian was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital over the weekend when he began feeling ill and his condition worsened.
After a series of tests were conducted, doctors told Rob that he suffered from diabetes, which was news to him, according to TMZ.

Former Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has died at the age of 47. Srnicek suffered a cardiac arrest in Czech Republic while running on Dec. 20th and has been in coma since then. His life support was pulled off yesterday after his family gave the go-ahead.

Nigeria bans credit card use abroad

Nigeria's central bank has ordered commercial banks to stop customers from using their debit and credit cards abroad.

One bank has emailed customers to this effect, stressing it is a "temporary measure".

Access to foreign online retailers will also be affected when the ban takes effect on 1 January 2016.

It is part of the government's effort to try to stem the flow of foreign exchange out of the country.

The British Secretary of State for Defence, Mr Michael Fallon, has said his country will deploy additional military advisers and trainers to Nigeria to help in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.

Fallon stated this while fielding question from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.

According to him, the military personnel, who will be in Nigeria next year, will be offering training to improve the Nigerian Army’s resilience to Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) left behind by Boko Haram.

Nigerian banks are struggling to meet $5 billion foreign exchange obligations to importers and correspondent banks, reflecting the worsening foreign exchange situation in the country.

This was disclosed, yesterday, by Renaissance Capital in a report entitled: “Nigerian banks struggling for FX liquidity.”

The report stated that due to the inability to access foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), banks are having challenges sourcing dollars to meet outstanding foreign exchange, FX, obligations to importers and correspondents banks ranging from $2 billion to $5 billion.

Benin's Prime Minister walked away unscathed after the helicopter in which he was travelling crashed in the country's northwest, his daughter said.

It is unclear why the helicopter carrying Lionel Zinsou crash-landed in a stadium.

"My father is fine. There were no victims in the helicopter accident in Djougou," Marie-Cecile Zinsou tweeted.

The sum of N514, 150:00 was recovered at an accident scene at Kwaita village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road by a rescue team of the Yangoji unit command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Saturday, December 26.

Fortunately, the victims from the two vehicles, including a reverend father came out of the accident unhurt.

An Indonesian woman was flogged outside a Mosque in Indonesia last week and her crime? For being in 'close proximity' to a man she wasn't married to. This apparently is an offence under Sharia law and the punishment is public caning. Hundreds of people gathered outside the Mosque to watch student Nur Elita caned for showing affectionate behaviour to a fellow university student. President Buhari will host his first Presidential Media Chat tomorrow Wednesday December 30th by 7pm. A statement by the special adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, states that the chat will be broadcast live on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and he will answer questions from a panel of journalists on a broad range of current national issues.

Who cares what y'all think or say? Cristiano Ronaldo is planning to spend the New Year with his kick boxer friend Badr Hari, in Marrakesh Morocco. According to local media, the 30 year old footballer has reserved a £2,400-a-night suite at luxury hotel The Pearl Marrakech for his whirlwind trip.

Ronaldo frequently visits his friend in Morocco (a French journalist claimed it was about 3 to 4 times a week) leading to speculations that they are in a gay relationship. A claim Ronaldo is yet to address.

Found this very sad story on Facebook. According to the person who shared it, some South Africans living in the US arrived the country yesterday for the yuletide Holiday and were picked up by the driver of the SUV. On their way, the vehicle developed a mechanical fault and caused it to skid off the bridge and plunge into the river. All occupants of the car died. Quite sad. Nigeria's Next Super Model 2015 will go down in history as one of the best events in the continent of Africa this year. It was a night to remember as Victoria Daropale beat other hopefuls to emerge as the 9th winner of the contest.

The Ballroom of the Lagos Oriental hotel where the event was held was filled as dignitaries from all works of life attended to have a glimpse of who will win the contest. For the first time, the contest also produced a male winner, the tall, lanky 17 year old Benjamin Onaji who was the crowd and judges delight. Gas Tanker in Nigeria Explodes, Killing Dozens

A tanker truck exploded outside an industrial plant in rural southeastern Nigeria, killing dozens of people who had lined up for gas to cook their Christmas meals, the authorities announced on Friday.

The explosion occurred on Thursday afternoon in the city of Nnewi, in Anambra State, according to Chuma Ibeabuchi, the local secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. The inferno sent plumes of acrid black smoke skyward, and it took more than three hours to extinguish.
